A long time ago, in a far off land, I had a sense of purpose. No, wait. Let me rephrase that: 6 months ago, in NYC, I was employed.

[True Story.]

I was a graphic designer for an elite educational cruise company wherein I'd stay late catching up on work. Thus, the IX-V lifestyle began. I was fascinated by my having of said job and becoming this working-woman sort. Wearing pant suits, sweating over rush hour, health benefits, 401que.

In order to get back at them for turning me into a weekend warrior, I began abusing my employee xeroxing privileges. Which inevitably led to "IX-V: For ___": a celebrated zine sent as gifts to transcontinental loved ones on behalf of my office induced back pain and eye-strain.

And today it looks like this project is coming to fruition with the help of publication mogul, design magician and dear deer friend, Mike Ley. Under wraps of, this baby is printed in nice as shit paper. Colored paper.

In spirited coordination with this year's SXSW, an unofficial official CD-R comp will be included with the Zine's production. All in all, the comp is great. Superb. Fucking blowing your mind.

A limited-ass-fuck printed edition of 20**. Count it. T-W-E-N-T-Y. For $10 bucks, you'll receive a very nice book of artistic anti-work images, along with exclusive tracks from my personal favorite bands.

The IX-V mix is quoted as, "great to work to". That to me is a compliment... I bring you the rough cut of the track listing: [any errors, MIA CULPA]

Happy to be here to share some mighty fine recent news in the land of Volar. Marc Riley, one of the originally songwriters in the Fall, has a BBC 6 show, and just last week discovered the debut 7" by Flat Worms on Volar. He says some very kind words here about the nine-minute mark, played them again the next day, and then included them in his best of 2016 show this past Monday. We're down to the last few of our black vinyl copies. Also this past week, Pitchfork put out its list of

(Volar Records owner Craig Oliver (ME), right, w/ Ice Balloons at Helmuth Projects)

Hi there.

Although I've been regularly sending out newsletters, turns out that it's been nearly FOUR MONTHS since I've posted here. I'll try to keep it brief.

Out now: Volar has been incredibly honored to have released the debut LP Fiesta by NYC noise-rock supergroup Ice Balloons, counting amongst their ranks Kyp Malone of TV on the Radio, Sean Kennerly of Samiam, Sean Powell and Dani Miller of Surfbort, and Dan Scinta of Wild Yaks. The band is currently wrapping up their US tour, the album is available on limited teal vinyl, only $12.

Last year, Volar was also lucky enough to release the debut 7" by my friends in LA trio Flat Worms, comprised of Will Ivy (Dream Boys, Wet Illustrated, Will Ivy solo), Tim Hellman (currently Thee Oh Sees, formerly of Ty Segall & Sic Alps), and Justin Sullivan, who spent years in the Babies and then backing his Babies bandmate Kevin …
