Volar at SXSW coverage and more

Haven't really had a chance to sit down and properly recap my experience out at SXSW, but fortunately, a couple of writer friends rode out there with me and published their own. You can read Peter Holslin's article "Letting the Good Times Roll" in last week's SD City Beat, and Ryan Bradford's "Burgers, Bill Murray, and SXSW: Finding Connections in Austin" and "My SXSW Was More Punk Than Your SXSW". In lieu of my own personal post for the time being, I'll just say that catching K-Holes at a warehouse party was the best surprise of the trip. SXSW joint showcase with Burger Records + new tracks by Far Corners and Andrew Graham & Swarming Branch

A little last minute, but pretty excited about this. In lieu of the crazy three-day showcase I took part in last year in conjunction with Trailer Space Records, I Hate Rock n Roll, and Phil from the Strange Boys, I'll be part of this showcase on Friday, March 16th, at the Grand Pool Hall. Also, I posted a new track each from Far Corners and Andrew Graham & Swarming Branch, who both have 7"s due out very soon on Volar.

After seeing releases on Goner, Shattered, and Fat Possum, S. Foree of Digital Leather began working on his next LP, only to see his friend and manager, Jay Reatard, pass away suddenly. His deal with Fat Possum expired, he fired his booking agent and publicist, and retreated to Berlin for some much needed time away. Over time he began working again via a Kickstarter campaign that allowed him to purchase the gear he needed to record in various locales (i.e. various friends' bedrooms), and this mini-LP, Infinite Sun, shows Foree at his sharpest, tongue-somewhat-in-cheekily misanthropic and creating a batch of his best songs yet. "I intended Infinite Sun to sound like music you could travel through space to,&quo…
